Overview

Have you wanted to see Mount Everest up close? But couldn’t due to time restrictions? Destination Unlimited Treks organizes this special short Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter flight for those just like you! This incredible adventure package in Nepal lets you experience trekking in the Himalaya with a 2 days trek as well as an exciting helicopter flight over Everest Base Camp landing near the Kala Pathar view hill to see the giant up-close.

Starting early in the morning the Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter flight begins with a pick up from your hotel in Kathmandu, and a short drive to the Tribhuvan National Airport. Once here we step into the airplane, and take off! Landing is at Lukla where we start on a 2 days trek to Namche Bazaar. First we make way for Phakding your first overnight village in the Himalaya. The trek today is relatively easy as we go downhill towards the Dudh Khosi River and follow it upstream through forested hilly trails. Once at Phakding we take time to rest and enjoy the views of this small but charming village. The next day we take a hearty breakfast at the guest house and continue on the Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter flight to Namche Bazaar. Along the way we stop at Monjo, known as the gateway into the Everest National Park, it is here where we will have to check our permits as well. After a short break we enter the National Park and make our way up towards Jorsalle. The trail leads us over hanging suspension bridges and mostly uphill. After navigating a bend along the hilly ridge we see the horse shoe shaped village of Namche Bazaar in view, and make way to our guest house for a well-deserved rest!

Namche Bazaar:

As this trekking package goes over 5,000m or 16,404ft it is important that we acclimatize properly before heading to Everest Base Camp by helicopter. Ur safety and well-being is Destination Unlimited Treks first priority. As for acclimatizing, which better place to stay than Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital of the Himalaya!

So what are some of the things you can do at Namche Bazaar? To start off we make a day hike up the Shangboche Hill and towards the Everest View Hotel for amazing views of the Himalayas, including Everest. Having spent some time at a higher elevation we head back down to Namche Bazaar in the afternoon. Here you can take time to relax and explore. Some interesting places you can visit is the Sherpa museum, or the German Bakery for some delicious snacks. Make selfies with the famous Tenzing Norgay Statue the first Sherpa to summit Mt Everest! In the evening we hold a safety briefing for your helicopter flight over Everest Base Camp the next day.

Helicopter flight and Kala Pathar

We have an earlier breakfast and make sure that the weather is prime for take-off as we head to the helipad. Destination Unlimited Treks does need to give you some info regarding weather forecasts for flying to Everest Base Camp. For safety reasons the weather need to be clear and ideal for flying otherwise there might be delays on the flight. Once in the helicopter the flight takes off! Fly across the Himalayas seeing stunning views of: Everest (8,849m/29,032ft), Mt Nuptse (7,861m/25,791ft), Mt Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Mt Ama-Dablam (6,812m/22,349ft), Mt Kanchenjunga (8,586m/28,169ft), Mt Thamserku (6,608m/21,680ft), Mt Makalu (8,463m/27,766ft), and Mt Cho Oyu (8,188m/26,864ft) among others.

Besides seeing the Himalayas up close you also be able to experience the Everest trail from above and see how the trail leads to Everest Base Camp from a birds eye view!
